How can i get my central locking to work?

I have a Ford KA2 and i cannot lock it. When i use the key in the door, i can hear it trying to lock but then it goes too far and unlocks itself. I recently had to buy a new battery as the car was not starting, but now the central locking does not work. Is there a way that i can override this so that i can at least get the car to lock. I cannot open the door from the passenger side (exterior) and have never been able to do so. Any ideas?

your going to have carefully ! remove the door cards (i will warm you there a bitch to get back on) from the inside view on the right once you have removed all the plastic covering you'll be able to see the back of the lock barrell and the locking mech there should be a wires with plug going to it just undo the plug on both doors if your model has not got the plug snip them (leave enough wire for them to be reconnected) at least he doors will not trip out and unlock themselfs when you try to lock them.
while you have the pass door card off again look for the back of the lock barrell there are too wire coat hanger like rods on it one of them is not conected or broke you'll see it striaght away reattach it easy. now am off to find vader darth
