Oil Worcester boiler keeps locking out! Can anyone help?

We have just had our heatslave 26/32 worcester boiler serviced. It was fine, but now it keeps locking out and the boiler turns off! It may work for an hour or a day or two then it suddenly turns off! Help!!!!

Yes, I agree with the above. I have always carried out all my own building etc work, friends called me yesterday with exactly the same problem; they thought they had run out of oil and while bleeding it I noticed that the "magic eye" photocell was not fastened in to the boiler housing correctly, when I looked closer the casing had cracked/burned.
A new housing corrected the problem

The reason for your burner locking out is because the oil flame is not established correctly and this can be due to a number of reasons. 1) The nozzle may be worn, causing the flame to flicker - the photocell (magic eye) thinks that the flame is out so it shuts down the burner. 2) The pump pressure is too low (it needs to be around 125 psi) and gives the same reasons as above. Personally I think you need to call boiler repair man back and ask him to check the fuel pump pressure, which he should have done anyway. There should be no black smoke from the flue - if there is it indicates poor combustion. He should also tell you what he has done for the 'service'...I hope that includes removing the top of the boiler and removing all of the soot with a vacuum cleaner!
