how do i change my petrol pump on myfiat punto?

exactly like the other car,a fiat punto ,year 2000 ,mine was fine and all a sudden stopped.the mechanic said it was water in the tank !so i have to change the fuel pump wich is whinning a lot .whay does it look like and where is it?

You need to lift up the rear seat base, and the petrol pump is located under it.

It looks from the top like a 5 inch circle of unpainted metal. The ring that holds it in can be gently tapped away (careful - you really do not want to make a spark!) in an anti-clockwise direction, as you would norally unscrew something.

The pump lifts up - careful with the float - if you knock it, it will give you inaccurate fuel level readings on your dashboard. Unplug the wires, and plug in the new one.

A fairly easy job, can be done easily under 15 mins including refitting.
