The washing machine is a Hoover SE220and this has happened before, but i was unable to find the problem, however when i put things back together the spin cicle worked, and has worked for some months.Now it seems that the fault has happened again and i am no the wiser.

try replacing the motor brushes - graphite blocks which transfer power to the motor commutator copper segments. they are possibly worn down or burnt. they work at low speed but give probs. with the higher spin speeds. check out www.2ndwave.co.uk/manual.html for more info
