GE dishwasher won't drain water?

after I run my dishwasher, 2 inches of water sits at the bottom and won't drain. my dishwasher was brand new with my condo when I bought it 2.5 yrs ago. I ran it for the first time and this is what happened. I'm thinking it could be the pump or a dried seal. I have a GE dishwasher. model # GSD4260.

I just had the same problem with a brand new GE dishwasher. It turned out to be a small bar code tag got stuck in the way of the drain hole. The service tech. had to remove the lower wash arm cap, pulls up and turns counter-clockwise on my model ,and removed the bottom of the arm by turning a ring in the center of the arm counter-clockwise(clicks into place)some other easy to remove part that carrys the water to the arm, and get to the drain (screen)cover. He removed the drain screen and reached inside the drain, removed the drop-in filter basket hidden below the upper drain screen(plastic)trap and there it was, stuck on top of the drain pipe, blocking the hole. I could see the outline of the hole on the tag. My advice is to make sure that you pre-rinse all garbage from the dishs before stacking them in the dishwasher. I hope this helps someone somewhere.

since you have not run it before - I would check to see if the disposal knock out is still in place. You might need to remove the drain line from the disposal and "knock out" the little plate in the disposal. ( in the drain line spout).
