can I repair a long flexible hose on a Dyson?

I have a Dyson DC04 and the hose at the back is split where it joins the coloured collar, is it possible to get it off the collar, reduce the length and reassemble it. You are able to buy the collar seperate so I assume it is possible to dismantle it. Thanks.

If it is broken near the top, press in the slots where there is a black tab, the you can remove the plastic fitting and then the rubber fitting. the internal black piece is exposed and the broken part of the hose can be removed. trim the hose back to where it is not torn clipping the internal spring with a pair of nippers. then screw the hose onto the black piece and reassemble. You just saved $30 in 10 or 15 minutes.

Forget the Dyson and get yourself a lady friend - much more fun!!

Much easier to buy a new hose, or wand, as they call it direct from Dyson. They come complete with the necessary connections.
