My Vauxhall Vectra speedo & rev counter have died?

Hi can anyone help?, i have a 1998 1.8 16v vauxhall vectra, my problem is that my speedo and rev counter have stopped working, sometimes the speedo needle vibrates alittle but thats about it, has anyone had the same problem?, is there a quick fix?.

the speedo sensor is attached to the front nearside suspension leg. change this( ten mins work) it should cure it. you might have to reset codes with a reader as well to clear the codes.. ok..

my s reg vectra 2.0 also has done the same i just had a cam sensor switch changed but that didnt fix the problem the mechanic at the garage said he had not got a clue why it was doing it, i will check the output from the alternator next i think.

the millage is working

Found the cause of my problem, my alternator was over charging and damaged the circuitboard behind the speedo.
Had my alternator repaired and got a second hand set of speedo clocks.
All is now well

take the counters out the dash and check the connections in the back my mate had the same problem and it was as a bit tricky getting at the dials.
