My question is why am I getting so few miles for so much expense on petrol, what is the problem ?

What am I doing wrong, I have only bought the car 3 months ago, I do not ride the clutch, I have been told it could be the fuel pipe please helo this car is costing me a fortune to run.

try and clean the EGR valve, this can get a build up of carbon, but only clean with WD40 as this does not effect the seals, allways a good idea to replace anyway.

I've got the same car and same problem ,but I have to agree with Dave.It's a heavy car with a small engine, it's bleeding me dry!

At £5 per gallon now, have you considered that your car is doing an average of 30 MPG?
You could get more mpg by changing your driving style. I have a new(ish) car with a 1.3L engine and I only get 40mpg without thrashing it.
It's the greedy government. More and more people are now realising the cost in money rather than in fuel economy.
