As above. The mirror interior trim has 1 push fit prong and the exterior has 2. Thats why it doesn't want to come away when all the screws are out. You have to work them out slowly, a bit of easing oil would be good. Easy to snap them off, primarily there to align the two halfs to ensure the remote cables dont get fowled...probably.

OK I've done it!

The inside trim needs to be prised from the front to release a plastic push in prong. Although it's push fit, its VERY tight.
I actually broke the prong doing it. Luckily it doesn't really matter if you do, because once everything is screwed tight again you can't tell the difference.

Underneath the trim are three 7mm bolts (not screws) holding the mirror on. Remove those and pull the mirror off from the outside.

If you're buying a second hand replacement make sure that it comes complete with the exterior trim.

Just bolt on the replacement and screw everything back together making sure to locate the top of the door panel in the clips.

I hope this is helpful.

I can give you half an answer:- First you have to remove the inner door trim panel. Prise the screw caps where necessary (not forgetting the one in the door pull handle), undo all screws, lift and remove the panel. This reveals a single screw holding the inside mirror trim on. Undo the screw and unscrew the bezel around the remote control. The inside trim SHOULD now come off revealing three screws holding the mirror itself to the door.

I call this 'half an answer' because on mine the inside trim wont come off even with the screw and bezel removed. I dont know whether this is a common problem or just my car.

I hope this helps and if anybody has more luck with the inside trim than me please post!
