vauxhall vectra 1.8ls r reg (engine management)?

when i drive my car the rev counter will only go up to 4500rpm and the management light is on, but sometimes the light goes off and the car is fine could anyone help me please???????
someone told me it could be either the emission valve or the cam sensor but im after a second opinion thanx

you can do a paperclip test on them which should tell you the fault, search vauxhall & paperclip and you should find some info that may help! basicly the cars in safe mode when the lights on and trys protecting the car by not allowing it to rev past 4500 hope this helps

have same prob try new air filter or might be the killer /inj pump u hope not

we have the same problem.looked it up on vauxhallownersnetwork and the cam sensor seems to be the most popular response. check it out for yourself,if you own a vauxhall it's the answer to all your prayers
