I have a Krups CafePresso Crematic Model 874 coffee machine and I need to get the expresso and steam side of the machine repaired. I live in Hertfordshire Post Code EN7 5HY and would be grateful for a contact who is able to resolve my problem. The percolator part is fine.

Thank you so much for the tips guys - although I am not so good at repairing stuff, I managed to unblock the pump of a Krups 874 that I got for around £7 thanks to your advice! My parents have this machine since 2008 and I've always loved the coffee it makes when I'm visiting, so I'm super happy I managed to make this one work!!!

Thanks for the above answer from David, I unblocked my Krups espresso machine the same way - opened the bottom up and flicked / jiggled the fine tube a few times, which must have been blocked. It's now working after being out of use for a couple of years.

For anyone else that is trying to do this, the driver you need for the three screws on the bottom is a "Security Torx" (the star with a hole in the middle) size T15. You also need a plain Torx size T10 for two black screws on the back. I wasted some time trying to work out the right size and type of screwdriver! Then there are a few plastic retaining lugs in the base which you can easily lever open with a large flat bladed screwdriver.

I've had a Krups 874 for over 15 years. Most of the problems are caused by limescale building up inside. The steam nozzle is blocked easily, it needs unscrewing (remove rubber handle first) and cleaning out with a pin/needle. Unscrew the plate where the espresso chamber attaches and clean that. Then run through a kettle de-scaler a few times on both espresso mode and cappuccino mode to flush out the debris. If the pump isn't working, then you'll have to undo the bottom panel (a few hollow point Torx anti-tamper screws here - easy to get bits for, e.g. CPC) and you'll see a thin clear pipe, this needs flicking with your finger to knock the debris from the pump, you may need to do this a few times. Oh, don't forget to remove the water container from the back each time you flip it over. Obviously, there is 240V AC inside, so ensure it is off when accessing the guts. When the steam attachment is run in hot water mode, make sure you have a something able to cope with the steam/water rush. The simple cure for these problems is to descale and clean after 20 or so cups, just let the water run through and discard. Most people just buy a new machine every few years!

My much loved expresso machine has the same fault,the leak is from the small pipe, at each end you will see a retaining clip,remove the clip and withdraw the pipe,the pipe has a small O ring seal at each end they need replacing ( I hav'nt located any new ones yet ) dont waste your time trying to seal it, I tried with some furnox lasted for 2 large cups the leaked all over the worktop!!!!The screws in the bottom are tamper proof torx, but I have found with right size flat blade screw driver you can undo the screw,

I had the same problem with another Krups model, and solved it by sealing up the steam nozzle with epoxy glue. I don't use the steamer part, anyway. If I ever was to get the machine fixed by professionals in the future (not worth the cost) I could get a new screw on nozzle, or even drill out the epoxy plug.

I have a similar issue with our Cafepresso 874. The Espresso/steam side leaks more water out of the bottom than it puts in the cup. I tried self repair, but the wierd screws make it difficult to open the bottom. It is leaking from high pressure steam tube. Out of Guarantee call 0845 602 1454.
