Ferroli Boiler clock 13 years old?

I have had a combi Boiler for 13 years and in 2005 the heating did not come on because the clock had stuck so I had to put in on manual. The engineer said I needed a new clock so he fitted a digital one. It was ok for a while then this started to flash on 0.00 so the timing did not work, todate now I have had the engineer in 3 time and they change the again so after 3 new clocks and expense to me it has gone again.
Please help as I cannot afford to keep paying out for new clocks and the labour. Optima 700 06/94 VMF6.1

The reason the clocks 'fail' is that the internal backup battery has died. If you have the original clocks (and you should) you could ask an electrician to replace the battery (the battery costs about £1.50, and is not rechargable) then just swap the whole unit for the current failed one. Essentially the 'clocks' are switches powered by a 'motor' but if the electricity fails the clock keeps running. If you have had many blackouts or 3 years (the battery life) then 0000 is the result. Failing that contact Ferroli for a domestic spare mechanical clock.
