ps make sure you remember if the red wire is on the positive
or negative side of your old battery

sorry that cr2025 battery is for a thinkpad 600
if you have a different model im not sure what type youll need
have a look at ibm .com at the manuals
or try typing in google
thinkpad x where x is your model number
cmos battery
that should tell you what type you need to replace it

means you have a dead cmos battery
Its next to the memory under the cover on the bottom
Undo the lid and youll see a white connector with a red and black wire leading to your cmos battery,
you have to unplug the white connector and prise off the soldered pins then reconnect them with insulating tape to your new battery and plug the connector back in
replace it with a cr2025 battery and see how you go from there
another commom message is err 161 163 meaning date time not set which is a dead giveaway for a dead cmos battery
