Kenwood cannot achieve the basic ground rule for making a dishwasher; "water should not be leaking out of the machine" at least within the first few months of the purchase. It is a very poorly made machine in all respects, there is no support or information from Kenwood. Their staff cannot find the source of the leak either.

My Kenwood dishwasher KDW45X20, has exactly the same problem. It was just still within the warranty, and the serviceman came but could not find the source of leak only to declare it dead. There is definetly a production/engineering fault. I had a Bosch which lasted 26 years without any problems and this is not even one year old. I will never ever buy any Kenwood appliences!

Tried to tilt mine. got rid of water but new cycle just fills and leaks again!!

The E4 code is showing a water leak, there is a polystyrene float that rises when there is water in the base, it switches on the micro switch to display the E4 water leak warning. Tipping is fine but it doesn't get rid of the problem. You need to take the side off, find the leak and fix it.

I tried your tilt 45% Method and it worked but you shouldnt have to do this. Anyway after trying that I noticed that my machine was not level by 1/2" so maybe that caused a build up of water and that lead to the E4 error code. I will level the machine up later then get back to you hopefully saying it works!

E4 fault. The tilting method certainly works!!!!!
Tilt front to back 45 degrees or more and surplus water will appear from somewhere at the rear right of the machine.

how do you un block kenwood dishwasher as E4 is showing in the fault window ?

I have just bought a Kenwood dishwasher KDW1274W
but dont know where to put the tablet because the manual refers to liquid detergent. Where do you or can you put tablets in this dishwasher

Fault seems to clear if the machine is turned off tilted 90 degrees then put back and swithed on.

Mean e4 not e3.

Southerner, May 2008
This E3 fault is the bane of my life. Hauling the machine out, tilting it, mopping up, heaving it back in for a couple of months before starting all over again. Completely useless. It's a design fault - how convenient. Won't be buying Kenwood again.

E4 error code is the code for a blocked pipe/drain or overfilled with water.

These are hideous machines- we have had nothing but trouble with ours!

Andy, March 2008
I dont know , but I have the same model and get an error code E4 on the display..any ideas?
