I'd have to ask, how do you know the fan isn't working? on most cars these days the fan hardly ever works, it cuts in if required but the temperature must be high.
There's a switch on the engine block or the rad that operates when the wax inside it gets too hot. It works like a switch that sends a pulse to a solanoid that in turn operates the fan.
