Replcaing a headlight unit?

I have a 1996 Ford Escort and need to remove the front passenger side light unit (light/indicator is one piece. The unit has been un-screwed but i can't slide it out withut it either catching on the wing or on the bumper. Do i have to remove the bumper just to take out a light unit?

Hi James. You can if you wish loosen off the bumper mountings to get it out, but first get a friend to lean down on the bumper by the headlamp as you wiggle it out. Unfotunately it doesnt come out easily, hence the wiggle!! To refit just do the reverse of removing.
Good luck.
