i have a webcam thats fully working on a another xp sp2 system i went to instal it on my work computer and i recieve the above error message when i use the AMCAP software i tried useing the web cam in windows live msn and i recieve an error stating that my web cam is being used by another program if any 1 one has a solution it wld b greatly appreciated!!!!! (i dont know the brand of the cam, the software name on the pc used to install it is "sevnas"

to solve this problem for my internal cam on a lenovo computer , I removed one by one the programs launched at windows startup (unchecking boxes with MSCONFIG > STARTUP)
In my case, à program "vm303_sti.exe" used as a driver for an external webcam was involved in generating the message "The graph cannot preview"

My TV card still has that problem but I was told by tech support it is caused by Media Center. Some of it's services have to be turned off. If you never configured Windows Media Center to watct TV it might not be a problem. But if you did it's probably the problem. I might try a fresh install of OS then try my TV card software first. We'll see.
