you first take the leather cover off the handbrake lever.
you then loosen the nut on the adjuster (under the lever) all the way back to the end of the rod(anti-clockwise).
take the rear wheels off both sides(after jacking up the car)
you then need a flat bladed screwdriver that will fit through one of the holes in the disc to the drum (which is part of the disc) at the rear .you will probably need a torch to find the adjuster, which is towards the top of the drum through the hole.you then turn the adjuster until the brake shoes are tight against the drum.(the wheel will not turn) do this both sides.
when this has been achieved, pull the handbrake lever fully up 5 times.
go back to the drums and check they are still tight, pulling the handbrake lever up centralises the linings in the drum.
if still tight, slacken the adjuster off 5 notches, and check that the drum turns with little drag on the brakes. do this both sides, and re-check to see if still lose.
then go back to handbrake lever, and adjust untill slight drag can be felt on wheel.
you should not screw the nut down the adjuster more than 25mm , otherwise damage could be caused.

The cable is the last thing to adjust to tighten up the handbrake. You LOOSEN the cable at the handbrake lever end, then do the adjustment at the wheels.
