Hotpoint VTD00 Tumble dryer - Intermittent?

Hi

I have a Hotpoint VTD00 tumble dryer where the heating elements seems to work intermittently. They will heat up for a few minutes when I first start the tumble dryer, and then suddenly go cold. If I turn it off for a while, when I start it back up the elements will then heat for a few minutes and then go cold a again. I am willing to fix the problem obtaining parts myself if someone could please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

I have a TDC60 drier with the same promlem and today I fixed it. Take the lid off and mine, there's a PCB in a plastic housing. The soldered joints on the middle relay were dry and if the PCB is tapped the heater flicks off and on. Take the PCB out and resolder all the relay connections and it will work again like mine. DON'T FORGET TO TURN THE POWER OFF - OBVIOUSLY or if in doubt get someone in that can do that sort of stuff.

Paul ...just check the air inlet/outlet to make sure enough air's getting through it as the thermistor may be causing the heat to be switched off as there may not be enough air to keep it at it's normal operating temperature and getting too hot.
