how do i fix my windscreen wiper on my vauxhall astra s reg?

My windscreen wiper gets stuck in the right hand side of the windscreen and does not function.

Have fixed wiper. It seems to be a common fault, the spindle was repaiarable in my case but a second hand linkage (motor not inc. costs about £40). Fitting is reverse of removal and is quite straight forward, no awkward 'hidden' bolts, screws or clips.

Spindle possibly sheared from seating on linkage. My wife's has done it and am about to find out if it is weldable or if a new part is available.
