my friend has a girela dna 125 2001 model he bought it with a water leak coming from the silver metal casing that the black plastic water pump housing is screwed to , now , he purchased a complete water pump repair kit from ebay for £49.99 , so i got to work on the bike , disconnected the 2 water hoses that connect to the black plastic water pump housing then i unbolted the silver metal casing that the black plastic water pump housing is screwed to then i removed it from the bike you will then notice a round black plastic fan that sits on 3 plastic legs that are connected to the variator remove it , then remove the black plastic water pump housing from the silver metal case , then you will see from there that it all self easy to do , it took me 50 minutes from start to finish and now he has no problems what so ever , and i charged him £30.00 to do the job .

Hey guys, I have the same problem, it pisses out whatever coolant I put in, just underneath the kickstart casing. I have been told it's my impeller, and my seals and have been quoted £275?!!? I was wondering, I looked at my mates DNA and next to the coolant bottle there's a black pipe and whenever he revs, water comes out of that pipe, but this doesn't happen on mine. Any suggestions?
Cheers

i had the same Problem, if your lucky take off the stator and fly wheel take out the water hose, from the variator side make sure the pump can't turn, then try unscrew the water pump shaft from its housing using a socket bit or anything else you can think of, when you have done that replace it with the shaft from the repair kit (metal bar with the silicone cover). push it then screw it in place. this doesnt always work mind you but put it all back together and try it out.

if it doesnt work then you will have to have the engine split and the whole kit replaced, to save yourself money drop the engine off take everything off it, release all the bolts once you've done all the labour they can only charge you a small sundries for the gasket sealant and maybe £20 labour. take all the bolts with you though because they'll have to go back in when the pumps replaced!

hope this helps

for every one with water leaks just buy the repair kit for the water pump
dont spend loads of money buying new water pumps
or engine rebuilds
water pump repair kits are under £5 from any motorbike parts places
water pumps cost over £50
and engine rebuilds cost over £300

the water pump repair kit is the easy thing to fix
just unbolt the water pump and take it apart ( dont loose nothing ) then add the new part to the pump and then fit it ( dont forget to put water in it )

its a bastar* when the water pump goes its so hard to get to. Both times its happened to me i have ended up failing and resorting to a bike shop costing me £110 a pop. They have to take the engine apart and basicly rebuild your engine and charge you for anything else that is on its way out aka piston. Spose it best change it when its open though. Beaware of starting it after a new water pump mine took nearly a day to start

mehmaet the engine does not have to come out at all dont listen to the other people, then water pump is on the right hand of the engine and its just a plastic assembly that has a wheel inside that drives off the 3 pegs on the magneto, the seals inside are common to go usually due to a bearing breaking up just take it off and you will see how it is held together.

ive been told by the mechanic that its the water pump ...

So i bought the kit but dont know how to change and i dont want to destroy the bugger....

Does anyone live in the North west London area and if they know how to do it ill pay ????

Please thanks guys

Its probably just the crankcase gasket gone , probably due to overheating ,

its easy to do with the correct tools ie torque wrench, haynes manual , and some gasket compound ,

engine has to come off though

if its just the pump your gonna change and youve already got the engine off the bike , you could do it in about 2 hours

if i wer you id also check the thermostat as if it sticks your gonna overheat as in the thermostat keeps the water in the engine untill hot enough for it to open and start flowing ,

well like a car works , you could take the thermostat out ,(its on the cylinder head , bike heat up pretty quick anyhow
