How can I fix the ignition on my Potterton Profile 50E boiler?

I have a Potterton Profile 50E boiler installed at my home. When I first turn the boiler on, the ignition sparks causing combustion in the chamber giving me hot water. However, this only lasts for a short period. When the boiler stops and tries to re-ignite the ignition does not spark. Consequently the boiler does not fire up. I believe the problem may be in the ignition system. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

this is a tricky one, i used to be corgi registered and have a profile 60e myself. There can be several reasons for this, all are shown in the installation + servicing instructions that should be left with the customer after installation. You really need to know what you are doing and should be corgi registered before attempting any repairs but here are a few pointers. Is the gap between the electrode and the sparking point 2.5-4mm. A new eletcrode is less than 3£, it could be the electronic control box but this is £100 so you would need to be 100% sure before changing that and be electricaly competant. K.C

Strongly suggest you get a CORGI engineer to repair the boiler. May just be a service issue.
