i have recently changed the timing belt on my scenic 1.9dti and i have no outer timing cover where the marks are meant to be. i have done it by eye and the engine starts ok but no power on acceleration and at top end so i assume my timing is out. however with no marks to go by does anyone have any ideas how to accurately time this engine?

how about looking in a scrapyard for a cover. or talk to a mechanic that works in a renault garage when he comes out for a fag break.or have a look on garage sales pitch say you heard notorious for oil leaks a quick decko under neath is all you need
