Hi had same problem today and this worked for me before you take the whole car apart.
The button that opens the bonnet from outside the car lever off the rubber cover from the edge with your key not a sharp object. The flap that operates the catch will have corrosion around the ball bearing, clean up and Replace rubber . The hardest bit is getting the rubber back on still haven't quite worked that out. Not saying this is the solution but worked for me

resolve the problem with tailgate not opening on key phob and by hand on vectra c facelift 06 estate .lower back seat down, center at bottom of tailgate inside small round plastic cover. removed cover which may break and insert screw driver and turn this will enable you to open tailgate. take door cover off (small screw hidden in door handle) check the wirering plugs on door catch and the one in the middle of door by glass these gave bad connection when cleaned problem solved. but first check the fuse under bonnet. good. luck.

I had same problem and had a simple fix. Remove rubber cover from external tailgate release. Drop down aluminium flap to expose a very small ball bearing which is the micro switch. WD40 the switch and test. If that fails, open tailgate from inside using ignition key. (see hand book). Remove tailgate trim. This will expose about 6 or 8, 8mm nuts and remove. You then have access to the tailgate release micro switch. Unplug connector and apply a short circuit across the connection to prove the switch. It's likely you will have to strip out the trim just to replace the rubber cover, as it's a sod to get back on without doing so and it's needed to keep out the road dirt that caused the problem in the first place.
