i have a jinlun 125-11 and after about 10km,it loses power then stops completely. It seemed like it wasn't sparking correctly,or so i thought. So i changed the plugs and spark plug caps,but still the same. I've stripped the carbs and checked the jets weren't blocked and and the floats and needle jets also seem ok. The diaphrams seem ok too. Any ideas? I'm getting very close to taking a hammer to it!

Ok i got a qt6 lil ped, removed all restrictons, but now after.a.few.mins flat.out, i eother lose power completely or it stalls. Ive put a.new.carb in, new fuel but still thensame prob, someone help please

i have recently purchased a a jinlun, trouble is its so slow, i pull the throttle it moves but is embarrasingly slow when push bikes are over taking you... i have cleared the carbs so jets are clean... would it be worth trying to adjust tappits or is there something silly im missing please hely thanx

have u checked the timing on it cos if its just out just a bit it may not run right cos mine has the same thing but not has bad as yours i think mine dos work and it is starting to lose power bit now i have got new carb and new plugs and plug ends but its still missing out but just a bit tho

right , dont think it would be the carb freezing! not when ya got hot air bein pumped in from the exhaust eh? go with the ball bearing in the cap, but heed my words, my ball bearing was clear an clean,but the hole it covers to breathe was blocked with crap,creating the dreaded vaccum,check out ya rubber cap seal,theres a fine hole where the bearing sits ,make sure it clear!!

My wife had same problem with hers, i tried everything suggested here then i noticed while i had the seat off, there is a main earth terminal under the seat and it had come loose, duh! I am a sparky and missed it a few times, tightened it up and no probs since

hi have a 59plate with fuel problem fitted clear filter in line rode and checked when started to slow down and no fuel so turned off undone pipe turned back on and blow back in to tank turn off reconnected. turn on fuel back in filter rode again no problems yet done 50miles

the bike has been great for up to 4 months, but now it cuts out like theres no fuel, the throttle becomes unresponsive and floppy, it pegs out, then restarts within minutes.
Its ok on short runs, but still takes time for the throttle to respond when starting again.
If I am above 50 for any length of time it starts chugging & is dangerous on busy roads.

Hi i have had the same problems as you all on the 125 - 11 jinlun feels like you are out of fuel or lack of spark (right)? Valves thats the problem!!!!!! wait until engine is stone cold ( in the morning before running) reset all valve clearances to 10 thou' This will sort your problem out!!!!!!!! what has been happening is that you are running for around 10 - 15 km, this gets the engine upto operating temp' all metals in the engine have expanded including the cam followers and valves thus making what little gap you had even smaller and not letting you valves close properly this in turn will give you the feeling that it is running out of fuel!!!!!!!!! try it i bet your gaps in your valve clearances are around 2 - 5 thou? this is not enough for when the engine warms up. It would run fine cold but really poorly when hot.;Regards all.

Hi, i bought one of these bikes last year and had a similar problem. After checking and replacing a few things, it turned out to be a few little things that need doing. Now the bike runs perfectly.

1) Strip the carbs and check that they are clean and set up correctly.
2) Clear the breather in the filler cap. This tends to get blocked with water or grit.
3) Drill a small hole in the bottom of the airbox. Ive known for water to collect in the bottom, so a hole will let it drain. Also check that the sponge in the airbox is clean.
4) CHECK THE TAPPETS. The valve clearance changes dramatically when the engine gets hot. If you have ever had your bike serviced, the chances are that the garage have set the tappets too tight. As it is a honda cloned engine then the original set up guidlines no longer apply. The correct value ive found is to set them at 5 thou. The tappets being set at the wrong value was the main reason that mine lost power/stopped after riding it for a few km.

Hopefully these things will make your jinlun work a little better. Please follow my hints carefully, if you are unsure of how to do something contact your garage or someone who can do it.

there is 2 things that it could be down to. the first thing is a vacuum in the fuel tank. check the ball bearing in the cap is free and lubed or even better, remove the bearing altogether. the second thing it could be is carb freezing. basically the fuel vapour freezes in the fuel jets. try adding 100ml of silkolene pro-fst to every tank of fuel. it cost around £10 a bottle but sorts the problem a treat. another thing to use is surgical spirits. it does the same job but the silkolene has additived to help keep the carb and fuel lines clean. Have a look at www.jinlun-owners.co.uk . it is a very helpful community of jinlun owners with around 2000 members. most problems have been covered and rectified by owners with solutions listed on the site. it is a wealth of information. don't forget to mention that firehawk referred you.

Yeah, I bought a second hand Jinlun 125 II back in October 07 it had only done 800k !! kept stopping after 15 miles, dealer tried everything (after 4 shots) - got it down to fuel starvation at sustained high revs - cleared breather in filler cap and fitted a large clear plastic in line fuel filter - at least you can see its flowing - and the problem has been solved

i have had a jinlun 125 11 for 3 years and mine did exactly the same i noticed that if i checked the fuel it would start again it turned out there was a vacuum forming in the tank so i drilled a tiny hole right next to the filler cap and ive not had a problem since

I have had the same problem , I've bought a plastic cap and modified it , to no avail ,I've taken the in line filter out , even run the bike without any fuel cap on at all , just in case a vacuumn was building up and stopping the fuel flow .I've also put a bigger fuel pipe on .None of this works .

The dealer hasn't been able to offer any help on this , they swopped my first bike as it was so bad. The second bike is only marginally better .It's run for around 15 miles before palying up .

The bike is great looking but the problems associated with this bike and the lack of help from the manufacturer or dealer means that the Kymco hipster or the Suzuki looks a better deal overall . Who wants a good looking bike that you end up pushing everywhere. I'm really fed up with the bike .

I did wonder whether the CDi unit was responsible but the problems seem to keep coming back to fuel .

Any body got any other suggestions.

I am having the same problem with my 125-11. After about 10 to 15 km it loses power making me coast to a stop, the engine does not cut-out and after a few minutes I can continue as normal for another 10m to 15km. The problem only happens if I have sustained continual speeds of above 40, around town I have no problems.
I am still trying to solve the problem but it definitely feels like fuel starvation to me.
Suggestions so far are.
Fuel tank building up a vacuum - there is a ball valve in the fuel cap and the rubber seal incorporating a breather channel. This might be blocked – I have cleaned mine but it has made no difference.
Fuel filter restricting flow. I have not checked this yet, but I am told that the paper inline filter does restricts fuel flow. I intend to try fitting an alternative gauze filter.
Float chamber adjustment - I will need to strip the carb for this. Idea is that the engine is empting the float chamber slightly faster than it is filling, hence the problem after a period of time at speed. Around town it gets a chance to fill-up at stops. When the bike loses power, the few minutes spent at the side of the road allows the chamber to refill. This might of course be caused by either the fuel cap or fuel filter.
The final suggestion that has come my way is that it could be carb freeze - I personally find this difficult to believe on a bike of this nature.
I will let you know how I get on with the above. If you solve the problem before me please let me know

Also it could be a blocked fuel filter,On Japaneese bikes this is attached to the fuel tap inside the petrol tank.

This sounds like either you have an ignition coil that is breaking down once it is heating up.or
It could also be a faulty fuel tap, their is a small rubber diaphram in them and it opens and shuts with the vacuum of the engine, check this is opening and closing ok by attaching a piece of hose to it and suck with mouth(attached to the vacuum side of tap), watch to see if fuel flows out of tank towards carbs.
