the fuse is fine but i have noticed that a small black box aproximatly 2 x 2 x 1 cm seems to have melted i am led to believe that it is a "timer check indicator" as shown on

http://www.gileaaccessories.co.uk/sparesGilera/epc2.asp?ModelID=1430&pageID=T36%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&VinPrefix=6H316319%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&vinNumber=5000001

it is a short cable with a connector on one end with 4 wires and then the black box on the other end

could this be the case

thank you
matthew

It sounds very likely to be the fuse! I am not sure exactly where it is on that model but it will be easy to find (usually somewhere below or around the seat/ battery). The electrical circuit has a main fuse and these blow from time to time. So check that first. If it's not that then come back to me and I can tell you what to look for next.
