Hi Mark,

To change the head gasket is not simple procedure and to be
honest is not cheap neither.

The difficulties of the job:

You have to take off all the head of the engine and fix the position of the camshafts with special tools.

Do you have time and tools to do that?

After that you have to set up the flatness of the gasket is complaining special gauge as well.

Can you set up the flatness of the gasket?
Do you have the special gauge to do that?

Firstly, I wanted to change on my own on my old Rover 214
and decided that I go to a garage rather, but I knew the labour will be approximately 300 pounds.

Consequently, If you have not got professional knowledge and tools I do not offer that the change on your own.
