Dryer comes on even when not selected Ariston margherita 2000?

When I have selected a wash programme and pressed start the tumble dryer light comes on even when no dryer time has been selected. At the end of the wash cycle the dryer then starts and doesn't stop until stopped manually.

Sounds like a relay which switches the drier on has become stuck in the closed position.
