i have a 2000 vauxhall astra 1.7 turbo diesel i can drive it for a while then the engine management light comes on and the rev counter stops and when on idle its hunting if i switch of and leave it for an hour it drives normal again any idea of what the problem is would be good many thanks

might be the crank sensor,you need to get the car scanned if i knew the fault codes i could tell you what the problem was.
