PERGEOT 206 1.4 OVER REVING AND CUTTING OUT?

what controls the rev counter and could this cause the problem of over reving and cutting out
steve, February 2008
IF IT REVS UP AD DOWN 2K-2.5K THEN CUTS OUT WHEN YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN PRESSING CLUTCH ETC .IT IS AN EMISSIONS FAULT.USUALLY CAUSED BY THE CANISTER BEHIND DRIVERS SIDE WING AT THE BACK OF HEADLIGHT OR HOSES LOSE BLOCKED OR BROKEN .THE HOSES ALSO GO IN TO A PURGE VALVE LOCATED UNDER RADIATOR EXPANSION TANK .TO ACCESS CANISTER YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC WHEEL ARCH COVER .
IF YOU KEEP DRIVING CAR THE MANAGEMENT LIGHT WILL COME ON AND A PLUG IN SCANNER WILL POINT TO LAMBDA SENSOR BUT ITS NOT THIS.TRY BLOWING THROUGH HOSES IF NO VISIBLE DAMAGE .
SORRY FOR SPELLING AND CAPS

i really dont know what the cause is but it kept happein to my peugeot 202 a couple of years ago, I replaced a sensor with no luck. adding holts injector cleaner or engine cleaner to the petrol really helped in the short trm but nothing else worked. the problem eentually cleared up on it own (after about eighteen months), watch out because ikepton bump starting it when it cut out and ended up waringout my clutch. good luck
