Husqvarna 266 XP - doesn't lubricate chain bar anymore?

My Husqvarna 266 XP abruptly stopped self lubricating the chain bar. It's got lots of bar oil, but the oil no longer seems to be coming out. I got the chainsaw 2nd hand, so I don't have a manual, and don't know where the oil exit port is (to see if it is plugged).

Possibly someone has been using waste oil to lubricate the chain (this used to be common practise when I worked in timber) and the oiler has become blocked. If you are comfortable working on it, take the bar off, remove the plate over the oiler hole and use penetrating oil to try & squirt back any blockage. Then flush out the oiler tank and refill with clean oil. Other than that it may be the oiler itself which you might want to take the saw to a dealer. OR it might be as simple as the oil regulator is turned down. If you are confident indoing so, the oiler regulator screw is underneath the clutch, so you have to take the cover, bar and clutch drum off to get to it to turn it up. Maybe best drop it with a dealer if you are unsure.

I have just replaced the oil pump which is located behind the clutch stop mechanism. The problem with mine was the grub screw which locates the worm drive onto the spindle had fallen our and had jammed the worm, the grub screw had also worn by the time i spotted it.

Take the chain and bar off - the oil port is a long groove on the side. - You'll see it quite clearly on the clean machined aluminium.

Did you receive a response to your problem? I'm having the same trouble with my chainsaw. If you have a solution, could you kindly let me know.

Thanks,

remove the bar and chain lift off the little plate on the saw studs there is a small hole that is probably plugged with sawdust a small piece of wire or air hose will push it back to the tank reassemble the saw change the oil and try it out

Did you try the oil adjustment screw on the underside of the chainsaw? It might just be too tight?

You can get the manual for free in pdf at the husqvarna site.
I think that your (wormwiel) i don't know the englisch name. It is a part behind the clutch is ether broken or full off wood moth. The part that drives this weel can also be broken because it is made out off plastic. When you disamble the sword you see a small aluminium plate between the 2 screws. There is a small wholle thats the oil gate. Check it for any blockage.
Good Luck!

sounds like either the oil way is blocked or the oil pump has gone try emptying the oil tank out might just be a piece of cr*p blocking the outlet if not then the oil pump is usually located behind the clutch also ensure the oil way holes in the guide bar are clean try using an airline also to blow through ok any other probs then email me at kippett@hotmail.com ok will try help some more
