The paddle has seized on the shaft and no amount of soaking in hot water as suggested in manual seems to loosen it. Any ideas on how to remove paddle without damaging seal? While it still rotates, the movement is starting to stiffen an I can see it becoming frozen in place.
I had the same problem with my bread maker. I didn't catch it in time and it caused the axle to strip the housing. I fixed the axle and loosened up the shaft with some WD40 lubricant (don't get any in the pan!). It's working fine now.

I have the same problem with my machine and I've tried to fix it before it stops but no success. It seems you would have to brake the 3 rivets in the pan in order to have access to something inside. the problem will be to put new rivet that have the teflon protection against rust. My conclusion is I have to buy a new pan. If you live in the US they are available on the web at B&D web site for 29.95$. Unfortunately I don't live in the US so I'm still looking for one in Canada.
