This worked me on a 1999 scenic.
Remove door trim.
Remove plastic cover on lock. Clear central locking lever. so you can see the lock.
About half way up I saw a small spring. Place flat headed screwdriver in this gap in the black plastic and move it up.
The door lock should open without any effort.
Hope this helps.

ive got execatly the same problem on my scenic,
ive removed the door trim ( having first removing the rear seat next to the door)
what am i looking for??
the metal rod that links the door handle is intact and the rod linking the pop up black "thing" is intact , but i cant manualy get it to unlock , feels "stuck"
when i activate the central locking with the key, all the other doors lock/unlock as normal , but the knob on this door just jumps alittle without really jumping right up!

someone told me i was looking in the wrong place ,
its a "relay" is this an option??

please help

Does the locks on the other doors work still? If so you know it's just the one door that's playing up. If that's the case, you might need to undo the door trims and see if the door locking solenoid is broken or if it's stuck. If it is stuck or fallen out, you can fix it on the spot, If it is broken, you can remove it, which will mean that your door will not lock automatically. I've replaced central locking with an aftermarket kit that cost $30. Removing the older one. But if your looking into getting this fixed at Renault, I'd start crying now so when they'll tell you the price, you'll have no tears to shed.
