I have 2002 ford focus DCl with leaky clutch pedal?

I have been told this is the slave cylinder and will cost £250 to repair - but another mechanic has said it is the master and will only be about £100??

Which is it and how much should it cost- there is an oily substance on the clutch pedal (the joint brake -clutch reservior is still full).

Any ideas would be great

the one closest to the clutch pedal is the MASTER CYLINDER the one down by the clutch housing is the SLAVE
clean off the oil at the MASTER pull back the boot rubber operate the pedal in/out lots of times does oil reappear if yes MASTER seals HAVE failed
Find the SLAVE CYLINDER and check around the push rod if this area is dry ie NO OIL slave is OK
