Hotpoint Ultima Tumble Dryer CTD80 - Fault F10 Overheating?

My Hotpoint Ultima Tumble Dryer CTD80 has a flashing fault code F10. Hotpoint's help line advise that this is an "overheating" fault, however, the tumble dryer does not seem to be generating any heat. All filters have been cleaned and the unit has plenty of clearance from the walls. Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it would be appreciated - many thanks

Try cleaning the heat exchanger and removing the old lint inside the machine

To get the top of the machine? undo the two screws as you did and slide it back (its just a tight fit, but it does slide) I know because I did mine today....

F10 is not 'overheating' it is Heater O/C (no heat) according to the Hotpoint website.

I also read on this website, You can reset the themostat by pushing a pin through the small hole in the middle one of the three themostats on the heater element (Unplug machine completely first) It might work OK then, but if it heats up but trips the house fuse like mine, replace the whole heater unit with the thermostats complete.(approx £40)

Can any one tell me how to get the top off this machine?
I have removed the rear screws, then the top should slide back, but the front section is solid.

Nick it is the CUT-OUT switch which is at fault.

The cost £17.00 plus v.a.t.
