when i lock my car with the key the alarm comes on, can you tell me why this is happening? thanks

Hi, i have had this problem before, if you open your door and the alarm goes off, put your key in the ignition and click 4 times then on the fifth start engine, this will reset the alarm, then get in the car with all doors shut, place key in ignition again, while keys are in ignition press the lock button on your key fob, this should reset, hope this helps.
