How to fix the windscreen wiper on Nissan micra LX 1993?

When ignition is switched on, the wiper starts to operate even though the stalk switch is in the off position. We have replaced stalk switch but still same problem. The motor operates on normal and fast speed but not the intermittant when using the stalk switch and does not switch off in the off position. Thanks for any help you can give.

There's a contact on a cam inside the wiper motor that takes over from the stalk switch once the motor starts turning. Doesn't affect normal or fast wipes because the stalk switch is always turned on for those, but if that contact is faulty then neither intermittent nor single wipes will work; instead the wipers will stop part way through their travel. For the same reason the blades will not park properly when you switch the wipers off. So, change the motor (or fix the cam contact if you're able).

Looks like the electrics is confused. Change the wiring for the intermittent to the stop and the stop to the intermittent. Or else just remember to put it in intermittent to stop and stop for intermittent. Had this car vbeen vandalised and repairs made?
