I had the same problem and it was the belt, it had snapped, i bought a new one for less than £10 off ebay. Be warned trying to get the belt on and put the drum back in place afterwards takes lots of patience.

sounds like the same problem i'm having. if it is then you need a drum shaft kit around £15. i'll let you know if its easy to fit on friday when i get the part.
