How do I replace the main oven element in a Belling 640SS cooker?

The main oven element has gone in our Belling 640SS Electric Slot-in Cooker. How do I replace it? Where is it?

Hi - I was looking for the answer when I came across your question in my search, and have managed to remove the ovan element and am waiting for the new one to arrive to put in!
ALWYS MAKE SURE YOUR COOKER IS ISOLATED FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY! Open the main oven door and look to the back of the oven where you will see a casing with holes in it. This casing covers the fan and the element. There are 2 cross head screws holding this in place, one either side - undo these and the casing comes off to reveal the fan and the element surrounding it. On closer inspection you will see one cross head screw holding the element in place - this is just to secure it as it is fixed from the back of the cooker - you can undo this now or wait untill you release the fixings at the rear of the cooker. You know need to work at the back of the cooker!
Looking at the back you will see just below the top an angled piece that vents the heat up the back of the cooker - 2 cross head screws hold this in place - remove this first. Look around the back of the cooker and locate 4 cross head screws holding the back cover in place - I say look first because there are other screws that you don't need to touch! Undo the 4 screws and remove the cover. Locate the main oven and the back of the element (lower left of cooker as you look at it). There are 3 wires running to the element connected by spade connectors that will pull off. Make sure you note the correct sequence (draw a diagram). Closer inspection will show the element held in place by 2 nuts - I believe they are 7 or 8mm, and if you have a semi decent socket set - use that and carefully remove the 2 nuts.
Back to the front of the cooker undo the holding screw in the element if not done already, and then remove the element from the cooker.
Fitting a new element should be this proceedure in reverse.
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR COOKER IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY REPAIR WORK.
DO TRY TO MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR FIXINGS - SCREWS ETC - IN AN ORDERLY FASHION SO YOU DONT FORGET WHERE THEY GO OR LOSE THEM.
IF IN DOUBT GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
Remember this work is done at your own risk, but if you are carefull and have the correct part to go back in place, there should be no problems
