2002 Nissan Almera 2.2 diesel turbo?

When starting after overnight parking, it splutters without firing fully, heavy exhaust emmissions. It then cuts out and is very difficult to start again. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I had the issue with difficult start in the morning, white smoke once started and cutting off right after the first start.
It turned out to be a fuel pipe issue, where the pipe got loose just by the engine and was letting air into the system. Replacement cost £10 at local garage

Sounds quite familiar. Our 2003 Almera Tino 2.2 diesel quit running three times and had to be towed away each time. The first time the dealer admitted they installed the filter improperly and air got in the line. Other times they just replaced the filter again. Now this spring it was idling rough and we had them try fix it. However, it only got worse -- speed and power drops to less than half four times now but restores itself after shutting it off and starting again. A new injector pump only cost 1600 euros plus labor.

hi , had the same problem with my 2003 2.2 , found the cause to be 2 exhausted glow plugs and the small black rubber pipe at the end of fuel rail tends to give up and starts drawing air into your fuel system , any motor factors will have replacement piping. good luck

pump could be a problem 2000 for a new one...or airflow sensor...try some diesel treatment first if u can get started

chris, April 2008
Probably the MAF sensor.

check the glow plug's if these are o.k,try power supply to them or the relay for them also fuel filter drain the water seperator then re-prime & check all other filter's,best of luck
