HI HAYLEY. THE FIRST THING I WOULD DO IS TAKE IT TO A TRUSTED GARAGE TO FIND OUT FOR SURE IF IT'S YOUR EGR VALVE THAT IS THE PROBLEM. IT COULD SOLVE YOU A LOT OF TIME AND CASH IN THE NEAR FUTURE. A DECENT GARAGE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CONNECT YOUR CAR TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, WHICH WILL GIVE YOU A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE AN EGR VALVE, BUT IT COULD BE A MASS AIR FLOW, OR A NUMBER OF THINGS, THAT'S WHY A DIAGNOSTIC TEST IS AN ADVANTAGE IT DOESN'T GUESS IT TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH A PARTICULAR VEHICLE. IF IT IS YOUR EGR VALVE THAT'S FAULTY UNLESS YOU HAVE A DECENT AMOUNT OF MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE,TIME AND TOOLS IT'S NOT SOMETHING ANYBODY CAN DO, AND CAN BE QUITE DIFFICULT. AT A GARAGE FOR THEM TO BUY AND FIT THE PART WOULD BE AROUND £130-200 I RECKON. IT'S ALSO WORTH REMEMBERING WITH MODERN CARS ONE FAULT THAT GOES UNRECOGNISED CAN HAVE A KNOCK ON EFFECT ON OTHERS. BASICALLY IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT SORT IT OUT ASAP. LOOK AFTER YOUR CAR AND IT'LL LOOK AFTER YOU. I HOPE THIS HELPS.THANKS
