loss of power in 3rd & 4th gear just like the turbo has stoped working. But the power is fine in 1st, 2nd and seems ok in 5th gear. pulling away ok change up to 2nd and soon as you put it into 3rd or 4th engine just flat fills is if someone is holding you back.

Hi I have a D22 Navara ute with the same problem.I have blocked of the ERG valve and still the same problem. A easy way to test the neutral switch is engine running, turn on the idle up switch to on, foot on clutch, select 3rd or 4th gear hand off the stick, the reves go up to around 1500 rpm, push stick to the left,engine idles back to 750 rpm, the switch is no good.

I have a 54 Navara and mine has no power in 4th only, I will try the sensor thing, and see what happens.

I know this is digging this tread up, but i have this problem with my navara.
I have tried changing the neutral selector switch and it didn't solve the issue, I have even unplugged it and manually opened and closed the switch when driving. 3rd and 4th are still not pulling. I cant actually figure out what this switch does. As it drove no differently weather the switch was closed or open.
Of the 2 switches on the gearbox, One is the neutral selector switch, the other is the reverse light switch. Surely this problem can't be mechanical..
Any help will be much appreciated.

The switch is located on the gearbox just where the gear lever goes into the box you can get at it from taken the carpet up and the tin cover off but watch out for the sharpe edges on the tin or you can just see it from under the vehicle but the top is better.
it has a connector to it so you can unplug it to find which one has gone (you can unplug them and try it to see if it works)
