How can i fix my laptop screen?

My laptop screen went black, i can still see the images but the screen is very dark. What could be the problem and how can i fix it? My laptop is an HP Pavilion ze2000. Thank you for your timely response.

it may be caused by the display inverter board which contains the connections for the display lights. it is normally situated at the base of the display screen behind the display panel.
