Just about to do it. Haynes says:
There's 2 sections to the cable, the front section to the equaliser plate, which then splits it into the 2 cables going to the rear wheels. I've got a Y-reg Mark 5 fiesta, at first glance, to get to the equaliser plate it is behind the exhaust heat shield, and in my case that means i've got to move a part of the exhaust first to remove the shield then get to work finally! phew.
Checked the hand gear lever first obviously.
