Renault Scenic Rear Brakes?

How do I retract the piston on the rear wheels when the handbrake will not allow this ?
jon meca, March 2008
How much will a garage charge for replacing brake rear pads?

Stevo, July 2013
use a regular G-clamp (swivel head on piston) to apply pressure to the piston and use a waterpump pliers to turn the piston in the right direction

works well

Thanks Ray, I made my tool with an old cut down peg spanner and used a rack clamp to compress. You need to rotate clockwise both sides, very awkward indeed without the right tool, second pair of hands needed.

u need to turn the piston and and apply preasure at the same time. older cars just push back with preasure but i just changed my rear pads on my scenic! arghhh not an easy 1 but got there in the end! failiure to do this with the correct tool can cause the same problem with mine where the piston popped out and i now have air in my brakeing system whith is proving almoast impossible to brake!!!! my car will be in the garrage on friday! my advice, buy the tool!!

Renault scenic rear brakes picture?

roger green, March 2009
my scenic is 3yrs old and has done 9000 miles and has just failed its mot test due to badly corroded discs is this a commen fault ??

Just did it on my Renault Kangoo. I used a regular plier. The piston rotates clockwise on the drivers side, counter clockwise on the passenger side (drivers side in UK...)

You need a special tool that compresses the piston and then piston has to be rotated clockwise untill it is almost fully back flush in the caliper. If you cant borrow the tool ,take the caliper off and take it to your local Garage. For a small charge he will do it for you.Just done one.I take it you are putting new pads in?

Ray harper @ wybunbury@TISCALI DOT CO DOTUK., April 2008
You have to push the piston in as you rotate it - there is a special tool for this which makes the job much easier. The pistons rotate clockwise.
