black plastic ring holding filter turns anti-clockwise about 1/4 turn, then filter pulls off, make sure when refitting that lugs on filter mate up with slots in filter head, and when you re-fit securing ring that the arrow on securing ring aligns with same on filter head,it might help if you fill with clean fuel prior to fitting.
