1991 Honda Goldwing Anniv Ed. neural light and starting system not working?

The neutral light is not working and the bike will not crank from the starter button. I can start it by jumping from the battery directly to the load side of the solenoid. The reverse system does work.

Can you start the bike with the clutch lever pulled in? Did you know there's a safety circuit which won't allow you to start the bike in gear based on the neutral indicator.
You may find that there's problem with the neutral light switch on the gearbox, or the wiring to/from it could be broken.

I've never worked on a goldwing, but i've worked on other Hondas check the fuse on the starter solenoid(spare unually kept on the bottom of solenoid) on the sports bikes it's 30 amps(Will higher value on your bike), this would explain no neutral light.
