location of thermostat rover 45?

I have rover 45 year 2000. I need to locate the thermostat but my thermostat does not seem to be the same as shon in workshop manual ie i do not have a 'coolant rail' as shown in manual. The top hose seems to enter the block in a fitting which contains someform of sensor. Will this be the location of the thermostat also?

at the back of the engine on my car there is a hose with a small block type thing with a wire or cable and it moves back and foe this is leaking water can you tell me what it is//

Hi James,

The thermostate will be behind the engine. If you are standing in front of the car there will on the left side and under the injectors directly where the coolant rail is going to the block.

Hope this will help you

yes, the thermostat should be located where the toop radiator hose meets the block.
