mk3 1.4 golf starter motor turns but not engaging till 4/5th try

also heater blows cold only, any thoughts on airlocks or matrix blocked, any other ideas? cables ok

Golfs are over cooled in general and take some time to warm up. also a low level of coolant will cause a cold running heater fan. suggest you top up your engine coolant and repeatedly squeeze the lower radiator hose while doing so,untill the level stabilises. this will remove any air locks. only fill when engine is not running
