Just to update since the above seem to be through 2008 - my 3 year old Megane III DCi 86 has just displayed the code, oddly enough in light of Peter W's comment on a wet and windy day. The only way the RAC guy who attended could get it started was to jump directly from the battery to the starter motor. It then was drivable to the dealers.
Still waiting for diagnosis, but it seems that Renault hadn't cured the fault in 2009 either...

Mine came on after 3 days of normal driving, which then made for bad stating and initial white smoke then i did the usual, i.e. worried over fuel pumps and potential £2k gaage bills etc - I changed the fuel filter and all glow plugs, still came on, always showing fault "INJECTOR CONTROL CYLINDER 2 CONTROL OPEN CURRENT" eventually it was found to be hairline crack in injector 2 once this was fixed the light stayed off, the cars great 20% nippier (if that was possible)!!! Only re tipping the injector wont always work, mine needed both tip then re casing / shell, and then that new code entering into ECU... All done for £200....Done 50 miles and no more warning, better mpg ALSO...

Megane service and check injection lights both on. Also loss of power. What can I do?

shepherd, July 2011
Hi, renault megane 2003 company car 140K on the clock, not had a problem since the car was new, the last week i started with having a dead battery, swapped the battery and then the service light, engine management light came on and it runs really rough. The car runs much faster but very rough and rarely will go above 3500revs. Taken it to a garage and the computer has said, ECU, valve throttle body & voltage. any ideas what the problem could be, company is very reluctant to take it to renault.

hi i have got a renault megane 2 1.5 dci i keep getting injection fault on the dash had test done cam up as glow plug fault changed them fine for two days then started again does not lose power when driving can any one help

barrett, March 2011
hi all, we have had our van in for the golw plug light and poor starting
got no joy from the dealers so we did it ourselves
turned out too be injectors,
when the vehicle is running check the fuel pipes for air bubbles or put some clear tube on the leak off pipes and see if any of the pipes fill up quicker than the others.
hope this is of help

I have had the same problem on my 2006 1.9 diesel Cabriolet with 44,000 miles on the clock. I had the same message, it came on when I started it from cold, and although it appeared to be running normally, you could rev it and they climbed and all four cyliders were firing it seemed to be in 'self defence mode'. When you drove it you could not accelerate normally it seemed to cut-off the turbo, so I managed to nurse it to my garage who hooked it up and diagnosed a faulty turbo sensor, apparently it gave a very low reading!. A new one was ordered, fitted and diagnosed again and all was well, it was back to it's old self.
£98-00 for the sensor and about the same for the diagnostics and labour. The garage had not come across this before, but after asking around they were made aware that it is quite a common fault. I hope this helps.

i think the fault is within the electrics as my injection fault light has come on twice on two seperate occasions in exactly the same location on the a66 east ....... some coincidence as its miles from where i live, although i do take the road probably once a week . when the light came on ... on all four occassions i stopped the car .. and engine ... restarted and revved the engine slightly ... the light went off .... it has never happend anywhere else but this location .... spooky ... or some electrical / radio signal affecting the cars electrics ? no fault has been found

mike, October 2010
driving my renault megane car 1.5 diesal last week and Stop - Injection Fault lit up on the dash board and 5 minutes later the car lost power and i was sat broke down for about 15 minutes before it started again. took it to a garage and they replaced the glow plugs, valve and new fuel pump but problem still with the car as its now not starting up and now even the mechanic is stressed out with the problem. any suggestions?

Rab, March 2010
Have you had the battery off, the reason i ask is i had a towbar fitted today and they must have had the battery disconnected as the check injection message is showing though it was ok before it went in.

Car Renault Megane 1.5DCI 86ps. Had the same problem last month. Left it in to dealer to check no fault was found. I replace all the glow plugs because I was told this was the most likely problem. No improvement. Also put fuel cleaner through. Still no improvement. Went back to dealer to check again this time found that injector problem in cylinder 4. The car is 2 year old but has done 63K miles just out of warranty. When the car went in to dealer to fix it was discovered that all 4 injectors needed replaced. The car has a full Renault service history and credit to Renault they are looking after me by making a contribution towards the cost.

Exactly the same has happened to mine, also in the last few days, but with more than 15k left to the next service. Most likely fault is a failed glow plug and should be easy (and cheap) to fix. Renault used to have problems with diesels in wet and windy weather a few years ago - it seems this is still the case.
